the kilometre-long parking fine

after taking a spaceship to mars and back, i'm finally back in the blogger-land! with a pretty long list of updates too. let's start off with what happened (not in chronological order) since the last time i updated.

-i managed to get hold of the ibanez rg350! great improvement in sound, even bigger improvements in playability. so for all that, $400 more was worth it. what i can't stand, though, is the stupid floating bridge. it's fun to make weird sounds with it and all, but i ABSOLUTELY CANNOT PLAY ANYTHING OTHER THAN STANDARD TUNING. there goes all my favourite a7x solos, dream theater, guns & roses (unless i use audacity) and almost all of MAE's songs until i learn how to drop D on it x(

-somehow i feel obliged to buy some dimarzio pickups for my bridge and middle single coil. i'm sorta spoilt for choice but it's giving me a headache realizing that BOTH single and double coils cost the SAME FREAKING PRICE. and i think i should get that modified DS-1 too. oh well.

-guitar aside, i haven't touched my beloved bike for more than 3 weeks. i hope the mechanisms aren't rotting as we speak, for i've got a long-distance challenge coming up in june and bike parts aren't exactly cheap stuff. besides, that nice guy sean decided to PANG SEH me in biking so now i have no biking wingman within 5km of my house. darn you sean, you gave that up for a NIKON D60?!!?!?! i'll KILL you!

-once again, my birthday is coming! i'll have multiple celebrations. sean, you'd better buy me something nice because you ACTUALLY HAD TO ENLIST ON 13TH MARCH but now that YOU GOT YOURSELF INTO WONDERFUL ACCIDENTS that extended your NS enlistment to a later date AT THE COST OF YOUR BIKE AND SOME MONEY THAT COULD HAVE BEEN USED TO TREAT ME TO FISH AND CO. but i'm not hinting that i want fish and co either, i'm quite sick of it actually.

-we're opening the humongous bottle of absolut disco on celebration day (i put that in small fonts so shannon, who will be watching this space eagerly to find out when he gets his free vodka, won't spot it that easily). more drinks are welcome, so are ideas. i can't wait to go to sentosa too.

-i can't stand the rain that keeps occurring ever so often these few days. it hardly stops and it makes it harder for me to go out. i hate being stuck at home all day, especially when i have so much stuff to do outside.

-i just discovered a new study destination too-changi airport's T3. that place, on a weekday afternoon, is EMPTY. its pretty conducive. but then again it's quite far for those who might stay in the WEST.

okay now that i'm done with most updates (i think), i shall start to rant.

first issue: the music industry. i think chinese songs are stupid and basically unoriginal. look at how many of them are replicates of english songs. all they do is take the tune of an english song, transform the lyrics into something stupidly meaningless and just a pain to hear, and they earn money out of it? c'mon, someone do something about this genre that ought to be done. even chinese radio stations play english songs, which shows how dependent they are on using english songs to earn listeners. now that is the most uncreative, unorignial thing i've ever heard. requires no effort AT ALL. these people ought to be taken off the music industry. and i mean it. stop screwing our minds. don't believe me? try this--take ALL the english songs ever produced, remove ALL songs that are remixes/other versions of its root song/original artist, and do the same for chinese songs. then you calculate how many original songs actually exist in each language. trust me, i bet that chinese songs are not even HALF of it. in spite of all that, there ARE exceptions, people who actually ARE ORIGINAL. those deserve credit, but for the rest, they should just go to hell.

next issue: punk rock. i think punk rock is plainly retarded too. so what, people get a kick out of listening to stuff like avril lavigne and the all-american rejects? in a world like this it's hard to actually believe that people still appreciate nothing but the same stupid power-chord transition for so many punk crap. emo, angsty punk rock like simple plan? please, gimme a break. only those idiots in those ghetto schools will listen to stuff like that. and by showing the world how you wreck your equipment after lame concerts, you are just losing even greater deals of respect of your fans. oh wait a minute, you actually HAVE fans? wow that's interesting. how about donating your stuff to people who can actually use a three-thousand dollar gibson les paul to play more than just power chords? those who play, listen to and like punk rock should get a life.
