this is the all-new 2008 shimano XTR shadow rear derailleur. nice carbon cage arm, supposedly top of the line. what people don't know is, the shadow status of this thing doesn't exactly help much because carbon fibre + rock = broken derailleur. RRP: $158.
this, however, is the new XT shadow rear dee. basically no fancy materials to speak of, unless you consider aluminium one. second in line after XTR, this does not break upon contact with boulders or the like. in fact, it shifts at the same speed as the XTR series, due to incorporation of the 2007 XTR technology. the only difference is the weight, measured in grams. RRP: $85.the price difference is self explanatory. if you ride a bike and don't have one of these yet, put it on your to-buy list. otherwise, enjoy what you have. if you've got an XTR shadow, you suck. bleh.
