looking at the sorry state of my last toe of my right foot, i can't help but remember how viciously and mercilessly it was attacked. it bled all right, but it's already long past that. i think i may have broken it. but i really don't know. cos it feels quite numb.
last night while studying at serangoon central i decided to look for some bubble tea shop that was still open at 10pm. obviously, none of them were. so i decided to roam around in case i DID come across another one. but the problem was, it was so goddamn dark in that place and with dark red brick pavements lining the ground i could hardly see even my way around. and you can guess what happened next.
well apparently i was coming down this flight of stairs so my walking speed was considered relatively fast. i was in a brisk walk as i reached the bottom of the flight and me, being the blur idiot as usual, looking ahead instead of looking at the ground, walked right into the edge of the hard brick-red pavement. it was raised and sharp. and i had so cleverly decided to wear slippers yesterday so the next thing was that my last toe came into full force contact with the edge of the pavement. instantly i jumped and trying hard to mask my profanities that threatened to explode in the middle of a HDB estate, i hopped on my left foot all the way back to macs. it was bleeding badly and even a plaster could not hold. furthermore, me trying to be the smart guy again, decided to walk about a kilometre home. for that matter, i limped and not walked.
water coming into contact with a cut is not a pretty feeling, and neither is soap. but i won't go into the details of my bath when i got home.
today, right before the first lesson, my toe which was supposed to be healed/dried suffered badly again. yes, again. even before the first lesson, i was so lucky to ave mister alkhaff step on my toe. and of all toes it was the last one. cursing and swearing up four floors of steps, i finally reached the 'summit' only to have my already-dying toe trampled upon by TARUN the GREAT. i really couldnt say more as the pain was unbearable enough. i'd have guessed tarun is one of the least people you would want stepping on your foot, not to mention your 3/4-injured toe! :(
the next best thing..nobody's fault except mine. right after recess, stanley, being the usual madman he is, flung his wallet at me for no reason. he missed and it landed under the wooden bench outside t26 classroom. i, for NO REASON as well decided to aim a kick at it, and of all probability my foot came down with full force only to give the bench leg a good wallop which echoed down the entire corridor. that was when i heard a crack. it could've been the bench leg or, as u guessed it, my toe. after numerous checks in the lecture theatre, i confirmed that it was the latter. my socks were soaked in blood.
so i spent the rest of the day limping my way around, my poor toe probably broken. it's back home safe, hopefully it doesn't run into anymore trouble. but what i have learnt is that sometimes u can just look in front of you ; it may be better to look at what damn thing you're treading over.
ben,out.
