not many people knew what they'd expect to see on their way to project nemo 2006. i was no exception. i simply had everything packed for the trip, and left without so much of a goodbye. okay, maybe it wasn't that easy after all--i took two hours to shove everything on the list into a 70L pack, which i thought would be easy but was wrong. i had this all done a day before the trip, and i didn't really buy anything extra to mention of.
next morning, the transport arrived. my grandad kindly offered to send us to harbourfront, and despite the morning rush-hour jams we got there on time. people were scattered all over the place, nothing new. many familiar faces later, we got to know our group members. they were nice people, i didn't have much of a problem communicating with them and finding more about their interests as conversation starters. there were two obvious classes, T25 and T31, plus the addition of another few here and there. that made the bonding even easier than i thought.

we boarded the 'SeaRaider II' to ferry us to Batam in about an hour and a half, plus a few other minor transports in the form of a coach and yet another smaller boat to take us to the main island of Pulau Segayang itself. my camera battery had almost died from the earlier shots, but i managed to capture a few more of the entire island before it went on AC again (power usually starts flowing only at night).

we checked in almost immediately upon reaching the island and the 'horrific' truth hit us when we saw our beds. in fact, they were NOT beds ; they were just mattresses arranged side-by-side to each other, about 40 people being stuffed into a kelong no longer than 15m, and having to share only TWO power-sockets. moreover, the beds, upon lifting our sorry asses off, leave a considerably accurate depression of our behinds for no shorter than ten seconds. believe me, even i thought it was a bit unfair.

"but it's KELONG life, man! how on earth would you enjoy it if you have all the luxuries and your king-sized bed?!"
okay, i admit that i did at first let that sentence vanish into thin air, but as the days passed, well, i started to believe it more and more.
okay i'm reaalllly tired now so i shall sleep first. volume two will be up tomorrow. or in just a few hours, for that matter. sorry about that, you suspense-crazed readers. =D
