depress the clutch and shift to REVERSE gear.

at least once in every one of our lives, we would think of how much better (or worse in the case of pessimists) our lives would have been if we were given the chance to turn back time. there was this song that i posted earlier on with strong hints of 'if' in its lyrics. i shall go right into quoting paricular lines of the song:

Matchbook Romance-Tiger Lily

"But if only I could stop the car and hold on to you, I'll never let go."

"Why don't we hit restart, and pause it at our favourite parts? (We'll skip the goodbyes)"

"If I had it my way I'd turn the clock around, and run away, just you and I."

it's always been this way for ages, like the way the human mind was made. there are things we can change ; things we have control of, however, while regarding thoughts such as these, there is no real way of preventing them from occurring. true, one might say that by thinking about other things it sort of acts like a 'mask' so that there is no chance for these thoughts to have their place in the mind, but that is not getting rid of the entire thought completely. human nature has never allowed us to filter our thoughts away in an instant. what we DO have control over, though, is the way we respond to the thoughts already present, since there is really nothing much else we can do about it. this is what makes us stronger.

so, really, there is no use in talking about 'what if'. life is like the drivetrain of a vehicle--it has a clutch and a gearbox with different speeds, minus the reverse. we can sail through life at different speeds : gear 1, 2, 3, more (if we are faster movers) or neutral (if we just stand there). the truth, though, is that the gearbox is unable to shift if you don't depress the clutch. in other words, you won't get to move if you don't DECIDE to take the action in the first place. makes sense? tell me about it.

to put it all together, simply, if you have a problem with life, DEAL WITH IT.
