after examinations today, i happened to be at the cjc bus stop with shannon thinking of a place to go, now that we didn't have much to do. i saw cliff at the bus-stop and i thought he was going to visit HMV or something so i went to talk to him. apparently he was waiting for his dad to pick him up. within a few seconds, a BLUE MYSTERIOUS SILHOUETTE (get that SEAN) appeared on the roadside.
i didn't get the chance to whip out my phone to snap a picture but here it is anyway.

cliff had been telling me for ages about the performance of his dad's car and how they took on Subaru's and all but i finally got the opportunity to actually see one in real, as well as take a ride in it (after cliff's kind offer to give me a lift). it was no joke.
it was an Audi TT 3.2 V6 Quattro, unlike those usually seen on the roads (which are 2.0L Turbo-FSIs). electric blue in colour with pearl finish, it looked extremely intimidating to anyone who happens to see one in their rear-view mirror. nice HID lamps, split twin exhaust and LED rear lights make this model stand out easily. equipped with a 6-speed DSG box, output of 250 brake horsepower @ 6300rpm and four-wheel drive system, this is one bullet when it comes to acceleration.
i had the honour of sitting in front while cliff squeezed himself into the tiny rear seat of the car (this is a two-door, four-seater). upon success of managing to get myself into the really cosy cockpit of the car, i caught quite a number of envious looks from the cjc people at the bus-stop. (sorry folks, this machine in no way is related to me. ;))
Audi, being the company that bought over Lamborghini, one of the world's fastest line of cars, made its statement clear the moment i closed the door. i was reaching for the rear seatbelt (the seat had been pushed forwards) when cliff's dad floored the accelerator and in about a quarter of a second i was thrown back into the seat. the engine roared with a sound comparable to those heard in the Need For Speed series and within a timespan of about three seconds, the cjc bus stop had disappeared behind us. the engine meter was still constantly on the rise, clocking more than 5000rpm.
the ease in which the vehicle managed to weave through traffic and tight spots is almost flawless. throughout the journey back home, we succeeded in slicing through two or three lanes at one go with surprising ease, as seen by the calm expression of cliff's dad. cars were almost flying past us as we raced through the central expressway. even though we were in the second-slowest-moving lane, we were at least two times faster than those vehicles in the fastest one. truly amazing.
many cars have brakes that are very sharp and offer insane amounts of stopping power, but you can really feel the force of braking. in this case, braking was calm and the car seemed to do exactly what the driver tells it to. it doesn't leave one feeling "oh my goodness we need to complete this braking distance otherwise we're screwed". four disc brakes certainly do their job real well.
i still had adrenalin flowing through my veins even after i got off the car. i said my thanks and goodbyes, complimented cliff's dad about having a nice car, and made my way home. upon a glance of the watch, i realised i had got home in just a duration of 12 minutes. get THAT. even my mum was stunned at how quickly i got home. if i did take normal transport today, i'd probably have to wait for like 3 buses before i got one. the cjc bus-stop was CRAMMED to the furthest corners, the largest group i have ever seen in my life here in cjc.
overall, i'd say that the ride was the fastest i have ever been in (not counting computer games), and also the most exhilarating. it seems that there is not many other ways in which one's speed craving can be satisfied that easily, especially on singapore roads where a lambo would prove rather limited. for those of you who like insane acceleration, go-kart handling and the beautiful roar of a 3.2 in-line 6, get this. (well, at least from a passenger's point of view, it does impress.)
